This is an example of the colour restoration of an old photograph which has faded over time.

This image was scanned directly in from an old photograph. The photograph is over 40 years old and the colour saturation has faded over time.

To correct the colour and contrast deterioration in this image first the contrast was adjusted. Then the detail in subjects was enhanced slightly by applying a sharpening technique. Then finally a subtle colour adjustment was made to warm up the overall tone of the photograph.

The two images above depict how the photograph appeared before and after the restoration.
